Quick fixes for common problems.

I can't install the app

  1. Make sure you're using an iPhone with iOS 16 or newer.
  2. Open the HVAC Tech Companion App Store page on your iPhone.
  3. Tap Get and confirm the download with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.
  4. If installation still fails, restart your iPhone and check that you have available storage.

The nameplate decoder gives odd results

  1. Wipe the plate and retake the photo straight-on with the plate filling the frame.
  2. Avoid glare — shade the plate with your hand or body if it's in direct sun.
  3. Check the confidence rating; low confidence means retake the shot.
  4. Still wrong? Email us the photo — real-world plates are how we improve it.

The voice assistant isn't responding

  1. Check that the app has microphone permission: Settings → HVAC Tech Companion → Microphone.
  2. AI features need an internet connection — the offline tools work without one, but the assistant doesn't.
  3. If you ran out of free AI uses this month, the counter resets on the 1st (or go Pro for unlimited).

The app is acting up or froze

  1. Swipe up and close the app fully, then reopen it.
  2. Check the App Store for an update — most fixes ship in the latest version.
  3. If it keeps happening, email us with your iPhone model and what you were doing when it broke.
