Getting the app
How do I install the app?
Download HVAC Tech Companion directly from the App Store on your iPhone. Tap Get, then open the app when installation finishes.
Which devices are supported?
The app currently supports iPhone with iOS 16 or newer. Android support is coming soon; there is no iPad-optimized version yet.
Is there an Android version coming?
Yes. Android support is coming soon. We’ll share availability details when the Android release is ready.
How do app updates work?
Updates arrive through the App Store. Turn on automatic app updates in iPhone Settings, or open the App Store and tap Update when a new version is available.
Pricing & Pro
Is the app free?
Yes — every offline reference tool (wiring diagrams, refrigerant P/T charts, calculators, equipment guides, glossary) is completely free, forever. You also get a few free AI uses each month.
What do the free AI limits include?
Each month, free users get a set number of AI nameplate decodes, voice assistant questions, and an AI-polished service report. The counter resets at the start of every calendar month.
What does Pro cost and what do I get?
Pro is $5.99/month or $39.99/year (about 44% off). It unlocks unlimited AI nameplate decoding, unlimited voice assistant questions, and unlimited AI service reports with PDF export.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose HVAC Tech Companion, and tap Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
Using the app
Does the app work without internet?
The entire reference toolkit — wiring, refrigerant data, calculators, guides, and glossary — is stored on your phone and works with zero signal. Only the AI features (nameplate decoding, voice assistant, report polishing) need a connection.
The AI nameplate decoder misread a plate. What do I do?
Retake the photo with even lighting and the plate filling the frame — glare and steep angles are the most common causes. If it still misreads, email us the photo so we can improve the decoder.
How accurate is the AI assistant?
It's a strong field reference for troubleshooting steps, code lookups, and quick facts, but it's an assistant — not a replacement for your judgment, the manufacturer's documentation, or local code. Always verify critical work.
Privacy & data
Is my data private?
Core tools work entirely on your device. AI features process only the photo or question you submit, solely to return a result. We never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email us with a short description and a screenshot if you can. Reports from working techs help us keep improving the app.
Still have a question?
We're a small team and we actually read every email. Or skip the questions and try the app yourself — it's free.
